Jessica Marie Alba was born on April 28, 1981 in Pomona, California to Mark Alba, an Air Force officer who is Mexican American and Catherine, a lifeguard who is part French and Danish. Her father"s profession relocated the family to many places like Biloxi, Mississippi and Del Rio, Texas, before they settled back in California.

Alba was interested in acting since her childhood in fact. She even took acting classes when she was just 12 years old and was promptly rewarded with her first acting assignment just after nine months. Jessica Alba though wasn"t popular among her mates due to her obsessive compulsive disorder which later got settled down.

She debuted as a child actress with a small role in 1994 feature Camp Nowhere as Gail following it up by appearing in two national TV commercials for Nintendo and J.C. Penney.
